Personal Story Sistem

Sreda je dan za novice! :) Na uradni strani si lahko sedaj preberete opis personal story sistema, ki je eden izmed treh PvE tipov v Guild Wars 2 (sem spadajo še dinamični eventi ter instancirani dungeoni). Novost dneva? Vsak igralec oz. njegov lik bo imel svojo instanco (dom), ki bo nekakšna odskočna deska za osebno zgodbo in se bo glede na odločitve igralca tudi spreminjala.

Each character is given a home instance, personalized to their biography choices, located in their racial capital – Hoelbrak for the norn, the Grove for the sylvari, and so forth. Within this home area, things are more personalized to your character. Your home instance never stops updating; as your character becomes more involved in their story, it will alter accordingly. Two norn will quickly differentiate their personal area through choices in the storyline. They will encounter different adventures, make different decisions, and their home will change to match their story.

Will my personal story or biography be visible, viewable, or known to other players in some way?

A player can see many aspects of another player’s personal storyline – they can compare achievements, and see what other players have accomplished. They can enter another player’s home instance (if they are invited), and see the changes and differences there that reflect a player’s story. In this manner, players can see what other players have chosen both in their biography and through their choices during the play of the game.

Moving to the topic of the skill bar design for a moment, will skill acquisition be an issue with the five weapon-related slots? Will you automatically pick up the skill knowledge with the weapon, or have to learn to use it?

Eric: Skills in Guild Wars 2 can be acquired in several ways. The primary method of skill acquisition is to visit a skill trainer where you may purchase skills. Skills may also be rewarded for completing different types of combat or gained as loot drops. Every skill in the game is acquired through one of these methods including weapon skills.

Daniel Dociu Intervju

Tim Edwards: When you create concepts, are you thinking about how it would work in-game?

Daniel Dociu: A lot of the concepts we create are just look and feel or mood experiments, and of course they wouldn’t be implemented. Once we figure out what emotion we want to convey or how we want a particular scene to fit in the emotional beat chart of the player’s experience, then we start building in the gameplay opportunities and building in the details both visual and functional that are needed in order to make it a viable in-game assets.

GW2 Combat @ ZAM

Tretji intervju se dotakne Guild Wars 2 boja oz. combat sistema, kombinacij med skili in poklici, environmental orožij ter pojasni razlike balanca novega sistema v primerjavi s prejšnim.

ZAM: It seems the combos will be very difficult to balance. What happens when a monster is faced with five different characters all shooting off combos that lead to some supernova explosion of awesomeness?

Cartwright: That was one of our biggest hurdles at first. In Guild Wars 1, we came up with so many ideas that we realized we’d created a system that allowed us to create a whole variety of possible combinations, but each time we added something it just expanded the matrix of possible combinations even further, and thus the balancing that we had to provide on those skills that we created.

Going into Guild Wars 2, we wanted to figure out a way to make the entire gamut easier to balance. It’s one of the reasons why we’ve limited the scope of the skills that we allow players to use.
